The Girl from the War Room A BRAND NEW utterly heart-wrenching and unputdownable wartime love story from Catherine Law by Catherine Law

Estranged from her family after she discovers a dark secret, Cassie yearns for the days she spent in the idyllic English countryside with her cousins before the war. Now she can only turn to her friend Luke for companionship and support, as she does important war work and suffers through the Blitz. As she watches her cousin Marianne’s love story unfold, Cassie wonders whether she will ever find one of her own…

This was beautifully written, but it was more of a love story than a war novel. We don’t learn much about Cassie’s work, unfortunately. It was a moving novel with vivid descriptions of the horrors of the Blitz, however Cassie’s motivations were very unclear and annoying towards the end of the book, I felt. Nevertheless, I’d like to read more of Catherine Law’s novels.

I received this free book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
