The Real Charles Dickens by Stephen Browning, Simon Thomas
This was a charming and enjoyable biography of Dickens with an interesting analysis of each book and its background. Although the story of his life is very detailed, there is more on his family relationships than his personal life. As what we know about his relationship with his mistress is almost all speculation, this is probably good but the author doesn’t delve into his divorce from his wife or how he got on with his children too much, I think.
If you are interested in Dickens, this is well-worth reading.
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
