 A stunning Italian villa, an unexplained death and mysterious secrets and lies. This book is definitely a page-turner.

Viv organises a group of friends to stay at the villa and celebrate her 40th birthday, including Caroline, her sister Alice with her twins and her personal assistant Jade. This story has many layers as each friend has a secret, some of them are filled with envy, and betrayals abound. Even Marco, the young man who runs the villa, has a mysterious past, and his mother Stella adds a Gothic touch. The ending was a bit disappointing but it’s certainly a memorable book.

I did feel that the author was partly trying to promote a cause, which annoyed me somewhat although she wove it into the story well.
