Murder in Rome by T A Williams

This series gets better and better with each book! The beautiful settings, delicious food and interesting Italian history really make this one stand out. Dan, our meticulous PI, is asked by a television personality to investigate her uncle’s mysterious death at the family castle near Castel Gandolfo outside Rome. He faces a difficult task because of a seeming lack of motive, and he finds himself in danger once the bodies pile up. Tension builds as Dan and his beloved Labrador Oscar race against time to find the murderer. Could it be one of the family with their complicated rivalries, or is it an outsider with a possible interest in the family’s incredible wealth? A secret tunnel, ghostly events and a mysterious, hugely expensive historical painting all add to the excitement.

I’d stay at the castle in spite of the murders just to eat the Italian food!

I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express (1930), With a Vengeance (1951) and Murder on the Ballarat Train (1991) were gripping, and although I find murder difficult to deal with, these books were fascinating mysteries. As I still love train trips, I would certainly love the Williams story.

Thank you, Hels. I love Agatha Christie too, but I’ve only read one of her train ones: ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Have you seen the new ‘Seven Dials’? My favourite actress Helena Bonham-Carter is fantastic in it. I haven’t read it yet, though.

There aren’t any trains in the Williams one, but there is some interesting Italian history. It’s a relaxing series to read, but I’d really rather just have one murder! This one was creepier than usual.
