This is a lovely gentle memoir about Fr Kevin Joyce’s of his ‘spiritual and vocational exploration’, his personal life and the differences and similarities between the spirituality and meditation practices of the Far East and Christianity. When he was young, he struggled with the choice between his live for Antonia and his calling to the priesthood and he continued to search for his true vocation through many years of travelling and studying Transcendental Meditation, Buddhism and Christianity.

He explains the different meditation practices clearly and simply. It’s an excellent book for anyone interested in the various types of meditations.

I was a bit more interested in the personal aspects of his journey. For example, his romance with Antonia and his love for his grandmother and brother were very personal and emotional parts of his life. The meditation sections were a bit lengthy for me at times.
