Mists over the Channel Islands by Sarah Sundin
Amidst the horrors of the German invasion, Dr Ivy Picot attempts to maintain her medical practice even when she is belittled by her sister and medicine becomes hard to obtain. Resilient and courageous, she helps provide medicines with the assistance of her pharmacist friend, to those in hiding as well as continuing her general practice. When she meets Gerritt, a young Dutchman, she falls in love even though she thinks that he is a Nazi, although he is secretly making maps and diagrams of German installations to send to the Allies. She is also concerned about her young brother working on a boat instead of studying.
This was a moving and well-researched wartime story, enhanced by the inclusion of real people who actually worked for the Resistance.
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
