 This is an enjoyable addition to Fenella J. Miller’s series, involving Emily, who is growing up fast, and Lucinda, a girl used to the high-life who joins the family at Harbour House. I found Lucinda’s story much more interesting than Emily’s adventures, although Emily is a lovely character. When Lucinda first arrives, she seems spoiled and lazy. The family is not pleased to have such a sour cousin in their midst but when Lucinda decides to join the war evfort, struggling in freezing nights amidst the mud and snow, their opinion of her changes!  She is heartbroken over a huge scandal with a married man, however, but she will soon discover just what a villain he is. She wants to fly for the ATS but could Ralph actually sabotage her career?

This is well-researched with a list of books for future reading in the back.
