A Wartime Reunion at Goodwill House by Fenella J Miller
From its dramatic beginning to the end, the action never stops in this wartime story about Joanna and the Land Girls at Goodwill House. When a German fighter plane crashes, and two Germans escape, the hunt is on to find them. Daphne, however, soon has another concern. She has saved her former fiancée, Robert, from a terrible death but she doesn't know the truth about why he left her. Can she regain her lost love?
Joanna, the commanding Lady Harcourt, has to run Goodwill House, and take charge of everything. She is yearning for her younger lover John, and trying to fend off the attentions of the handsome and imperious Peter. When a possibly fraudulent case turns up that may affect her family, she has a huge problem to deal with.
The adventures of Joanna and her young charges and their romances keep the pages turning over in this enjoyable and thoroughly-researched book, although I found Joanna a bit hard to like at times. We don't know what life is, when you consider what people had to cope with during the war.
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
