Breath: The New Science of A Lost Art by James Nestor
James Nestor's old house was falling apart. He'd just recovered from pneumonia and he was eating three meals a day from the same bowl, hunched over newspapers. Anxious to get out of his rut, he decided to do an introductory course in a breathing technique. This took him on a long and strange journey...Apparently, most of us do not breathe properly, and Nestor discovers the history about why this is so, and what we are doing wrong. I found some of this book rather graphic, especially the experiments on animals. Also, there is a lot of work involved in learning to breathe properly, but there are exercises to do at the back of the book, and you can even buy a workbook based on the book. It is very helpful for those with sinus, asthma, etc.
I have had this book for over a year, so I read it for Rose City Reader's TBR 23 in '23 Challenge.
