Two More Titles for the TBR 23 in '23 Challenge
Sheila: The Australian beauty who bewitched British society. by Robert Wainwright
This is an enjoyable story about a beautiful Australian woman who married into the English aristocracy, and Russian royalty. She also had love affairs with Rudolph Valentino, and the young Prince George (later King George VI). She was a lovely person, and had rather a tragic life. It's a good tale, but I couldn't see that she did anything important, although the love affair with the prince has been hidden from view.
The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak
This beautifully written novel concerns Shams, who finds his perfect companion in Rumi, the Persian poet, and teaches him how to become a Sufi mystic. Seven centuries later, Ella has to decide whether to stay with her unfaithful husband, or follow her heart, whatever it means. This is one of the best novels that I have ever read, and I want to read all of Elif Shafak's books now!
I have had both of these novels for over a year, so I read them for Rose City Reader's TBR 23 in '23 Challenge.
