Tata From the bestselling author of Fresh Water for Flowers by Valérie Perrin

Heartbroken and lost because her husband has deserted her for another woman, Agnes, an acclaimed film director learns that her beloved aunt Colette has just died. The problem is that she thought that Colette passed away three years ago. What happened in those three years, and who is the mysterious woman in Colette’s grave? When Agnes makes her way to her aunt’s town of Guegnon,  she reconnects with childhood friends who help her solve the mystery, and she discovers that Colette has left her cassettes that tell her story…Along the way, Agnes embarks on a journey to find herself.

This is a tale full of heartbreak, and stories of abuse, the misuse of power and misogyny. It could almost fall into the category of a  thriller with its evil villain, and dark, secret crimes. It’s quite difficult to put down, and certainly keeps you riveted to the page. However, I found it a bit creepy for me. It was also a bit confusing, because it involved so many characters.

Valerie Perrin is certainly a wonderful writer, but I preferred her last book.

I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
