The Daughter's Tale by Armando Lucas Correa
This is a powerful tale about motherhood, war, love and sacrifice. It is harrowing at times, but beautifully written and worth reading.
Denise has a lovely life in Berlin with her second-hand bookshop, doctor husband and her daughters. When the Nazis start burning books, however, she is forced to think about her future. As she is Jewish, it is a scary time for the family. When she is left all alone, after her husband is arrested, she has to decide what to do about her daughters if anything happens to her...
I read this book by Armando Lucas Correa for the Rose City Reader The TBR 22 in 22 Challenge and I look forward to reading more of the author's books.
