Erte's Theatrical Costumes in Full Color by Erte
This book is an absolute delight for any fan of costume design history, and it is sure to inspire budding theatrical designers. Brilliant and colourful, these costumes include designs for the ballet, the opera and famous actresses, such as Gaby Deslys. My favourites include the monster with three heads for the ballet Sheherazade, the pink and purple flowing octopus and the fantastic clock with the 18th century lady and the cloaked man.

Probably these days most people will know Erte's posters from Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, so the Theatrical Costumes book should broaden our knowledge base. Thank you.
It is a pity that so many cultured people had to go to Paris, because The Silver Age in Russia
sounds so innovative and creative. If only the Tsar had listened to Sir George Buchanan and Edward VII, things might have been very different...
Happy New Year for 2017!
