Paris Is Always A Good Idea by Nicholas Barreau

This adorable love story is sure to capture your heart, and make you want to go to Paris! In a way it is better because you only see the good side of Paris, and the vivid descriptions make you feel as if you are there. It's perfect escapist reading to lift the spirits, especially if you are feeling depressed by all the bad news.

Rosalie, the heroine, owns a little card shop and is very happy designing her cards. She has trouble with the rent, but she has a career, a sympathetic boyfriend, and lives in Paris. What more could you want? Her boyfriend is one of those annoying people who actually likes getting up early in the morning and running and eating healthy food, while Rosalie likes to lie in and has a sweet tooth. She smokes and enjoys her wine. One day an elderly man arrives at the card shops to see if she wants to illustrate his book. But what has Robert, a handsome American professor, who gets on her nerves, have to do with this lovely man?

Nicholas Barreau's books are like medicine for the heart - they always make me feel better!

I read this for the 22 Books in '22 Rose City Reader Challenge.
