The Clockmaker’s Wife by Daisy Wood HarperCollins Publishers Australia You Are Auto-Approved Avon Romance | Women's Fiction
When Ellie visits London to find out the truth about her grandmother who mysteriously died during the war, she is confronted with a dark mystery. She also has to face her feelings about Dan, her sister's husband. She has many questions, for example, she wonders why her Aunt is unwelcoming, and why her mother is so close-mouthed about her grandmother.
In 1940, Nell finds herself forced to escape with her daughter Alice from a London suffering from the ravages of the Blitz to her mother's house in the country. Here she learns that her beloved husband, Arthur, a clockmaker, who works on Big Ben, is in prison, which is very puzzling. Nell goes back to London, to try to help her husband, and finds herself in the middle of a plot which could bring down the country. Will she be too late?
This beautifully-written story will keep you at night, feeling that you are in the middle of the Blitz with Nell in a race against time! The descriptions of the bombs falling on London, and the fires is so colourful and vivid, that it is easy to picture it all. I loved this book, and I was really sorry to finish it.
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
